The 16th National Marxist Forum & the annual conference of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China, co-hosted by the Marx and Engels Research Association of China, the Fourth Research Department of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and FNU, and co-organized by College of Marxism of FNU, the Marxism & Reality Magazine and the Theory & Review Magazine, was held in Fuzhou from November 16 to 17. The opening ceremony of the conference, presided over by Lai Hairong, FNU vice president and secretary of the party committee of College of Marxism, was held on the morning of November 16. The attendees included Wei Jianhua, president of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China and former director of Central Compilation & Translation Bureau, Zhang Jinde, deputy inspector of the Publicity Department of Fujian Provincial Party Committee, Wang Yang, deputy director of the Education Department of Fujian Province, Yang Jinhai, executive vice president of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China and former secretary-general of Central Compilation & Translation Bureau, Feng Lei, vice president of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China and director of the Fourth Research Department of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, Han Qingxiang, executive vice president of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China, former member of the school affairs commission of Party School of the CPC Central Committee and vice director of education, Wang Dong with Peking University, vice president of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China, Xu Junzhong, executive vice president of the Marx and Engels Research Association of China and former vice president of Guangzhou University, and Li Baoyin, secretary of FNU party committee. Among them, Wei Jinhua, Zhang Jinde, Feng Lei and Li Baoyin addressed the ceremony respectively.
Themed “Marxism and 70-Year PRC”, the event was attended by nearly 150 representatives from 85 units, including universities, (military) research institutes, academic journals and the press from all over the country. The eight well-known experts and scholars in the field of Marxism in China, Prof. Wang Dong of Peking University, Prof. Han Qingxiang of Party School of the CPCCC, Prof. Xu Junzhong of Sun Yat-Sen University, Prof. Li Deyi of Academy of Military Sciences PLA China, Prof. Yu Liangzao of Nanjin Normal University, Prof. Bing Zheng of Jilin University, Prof. Zheng Yongkou of Zhengzhou University and Prof. Li Jianping of FNU, delivered keynote speeches at the conference. Fifteen famous experts and scholars, including Prof. Li Nanming of Heilongjiang University, Prof. Zhang Xu of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Prof. Zheng Youxian of FNU, spoke at the conference. During the group session, the representatives present conducted in-depth discussions in terms of the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the development course of Marxism and characteristics of the new era, and the historical experience of 70-year PRC.
