The unveiling ceremony of the Modern Chinese Poetry Research Center and the seminar on the research proposal of the major project of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC) “Holistic Research on Modern Chinese Poetry” with Prof. Wang Guangming in charge was held on Cangshan Campus of FNU on June 15th. Prof. Zhang Qinghua of Beijing Normal University, Prof. Cheng Guangwei of Renmin University of China, Researcher Zhao Xifang of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Prof. Wu Xiaodong of Peking University and Prof. Wang Wending of the College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU made a committee of experts on the research proposal, with Prof. Zhang Qinghua as the chairman. Zheng Jiajian, vice president of FNU, heads of the Division of Social Sciences, and the College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU, Wang Guangming, the chief expert of the project and a distinguished professor of FNU, and the leaders of the five sub-projects, Prof. Jiang Tao of Peking University, Prof. Zhang Taozhou of Capital Normal University, Prof. Rong Guangqi of Wuhan University, Prof. Wu Mingchun and Associate Prof. Chen Peihao of the College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU, attended the seminar, which was conducted both online and offline.
Zheng Jiajian and Zhang Qinghua jointly unveiled the plaque of “Fujian Normal University Modern Chinese Poetry Research Center”. Wang Guangming awarded appointment letters to the three part-time researchers of the Research Center, who are Jiang Tao, Zhang Taozhou, Rong Guangqi. Zheng Jiajian congratulated the project team led by Wang Guangqi on making a successful bid of the major project of the NSSFC and the establishment of the Research Center in his speech. Zheng hoped that the modern Chinese poetry research team will take it as an opportunity to make more high-end academic achievements and to build the Research Center into an important center for the research on Chinese poetry in the southeast of China.
At the demonstration meeting, Wang Guangming gave a research proposal on the overall concept of the project, and the leaders of the sub-projects respectively introduced relevant research ideas and main contents. The committee of experts highly affirmed the problem awareness, theoretical innovation, broad vision and poetic significance reflected in the project, agreed to carry out the project as planned and put forward opinions and recommendations on how to make the project more holistic, more innovative and more effective. They hoped that the project will help promote the development of Chinese poetry research and build a Chinese poetic theoretical discourse system with contemporary characteristics.
