On November 6, the 2nd Forum on Political Economy of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (PESCC) for a New Era was held. The conference was hosted by the seven key supported National Research Centers for PESCC by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and co-organized by the National Research Center for PESCC of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) and other units. The conference was held in the form of Tencent meeting and online live broadcast. Professor Li Jianping, chief expert of “the Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project” of the CPC Central Committee, a well-known Marxist economist in China, former president of FNU, and director of the National Research Center for PESCC of FNU, was invited to attend the conference and gave a keynote speech.
The topic of Professor Li Jianping's report is Research on the Methodology of Xi Jinping's Economic Thought, consisting of three parts: historical materialism as the basis of methodology, creative application of materialist dialectics, and practical epistemology that embodies Chinese characteristics and wisdom. He believes that historical materialism, materialist dialectics, and practical epistemology, as the methodology of Xi Jinping's economic thought, are an organic whole, among which historical materialism is the basic method, materialist dialectics is the main method, and practical epistemology is the fundamental method. These three are inseparable, which make Xi Jinping's economic thought system full of vigor and vitality.
It is reported that in 2017, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee designated 7 universities and scientific research institutions, including Renmin University of China (RUC) and FNU, as the key supported National Research Centers for PESCC. The National Research Center for PESCC is a research institution, which is specially established to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches at the Philosophy and Social Sciences Symposium and the 28th Group Study Session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and further strengthen the study of PESCC. The Forum on PESCC for a New Era, solemnly proposed by the National Research Center for PESCC of RUC and jointly initiated by the seven centers, is committed to building a high-end academic exchange platform for PESCC.
