At the invitation of Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), who signed the invitation letter on behalf of the UN-Habitat, the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China, Zhu Yu, director of the Population and Development Research Center and researcher of the School of Geographical Sciences of FNU, attended the global commemoration event of World Cities Day 2020 online and addressed the roundtable forum by UN- Habitat on “World Cities Report 2020” as lead discussant on October 31.
Recently, Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif wrote to Zhu Yu again, thanking him for his valuable speech at the roundtable forum and his contributions to the great success of the commemoration event. It is reported that World Cities Report is the flagship report of the UN-Habitat and Zhu Yu is one of the eight members of the International Advisory Council for the World Cities Report 2020.
