The opening ceremony of our Reading Festival took place on April 23rd in the library of our Qishan campus. Co-hosted by the Student Union and Library of our university, the event was also supported by Tongfang CNKI Beijing Technology Co., Ltd., Fujian Branch, and Fujian Jiujiufangchen Technology Co., Ltd. Among the attendees were Vice President Yang Yusheng, Meng Xiangfeng (General Manager of the Large Model Division at China National Knowledge Network Artificial Intelligence), Zhang Jialin (General Manager of Fujian Jiujiufangchen Technology Co., Ltd.), as well as representatives from various departments including the Student Union, Library, School of Law, and School of Marxism.
In his address, Yang Yusheng emphasized that fostering a fragrant campus is pivotal to enhancing campus culture, enriching its connotations, and shaping a distinctive cultural brand. He encouraged all faculty and students to integrate reading into their daily lives, growing in knowledge and wisdom through books, enriching their existence, and experiencing the joys of literature. This, he believed, would be a powerful impetus for our university's Double First-Class construction.
During the ceremony, we unveiled the newly established academic seminar space, Duxing Book Bar, in the library. Certificates were presented to papers from our university selected as high-impact by CNKI, and the top undergraduate borrowers of 2023 were recognized. Throughout the Reading Festival, we'll be organizing various activities, including experiencing new learning and reading devices, a Reading into the Future themed book exhibition, a 3D library technology experience, and a book review competition.
Notably, the new Duxing Book Bar will function as the documentation center for the Fujian Normal University Research Base of the Fujian Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It will showcase important works by President Xi Jinping, books on Party history and Party building, as well as significant academic achievements from our scholars studying Xi Jinping's Thought. Additionally, it will serve as a venue for political learning, academic discussions, and workshops on campus integrity culture.
