Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation in the Philippines Holds the 10th Board Meeting

On December 17, the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation held the 10th board meeting online, attended by President Joseph of Angeles University Foundation, FNU leaders Wang Changping and Chen Qinghua, Chinese and foreign deans of the Confucius Institute and relevant responsible persons from International College of Chinese Studies of FNU.

At the meeting, President Joseph thanked FNU for supporting the construction and development of the Confucius Institute and fully affirmed the work and achievements made by the Confucius Institute in the past year. President Wang Changping thanked Angeles University Foundation for its long-standing concern and support, and briefly introduced the work of the Confucius Institute in the past year, hoping that the Confucius Institute will take the tenth anniversary of its establishments as a new starting point, seize the new opportunity brought by the transfer of the Confucius Institute, overcome the new challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, adhere to quality improvement and characteristic development, and strive to make new contributions to deepening the friendly exchanges between China and the Philippines.

Subsequently, the Chinese dean and the foreign dean respectively reported to the members of the board meeting on the work summary of the year 2020, the budget and final accounts of the project funds, and work plans for the next phase of the Confucius Institute, in particular focusing on the work of the Confucius Institute after the outbreak of COVID-19. The members of the board meeting carefully reviewed the deans work reports of the Confucius Institute and work plans for the next stage, fully recognized the achievements made by the Confucius Institute, put forward suggestions on the development plan of the Confucius Institute for the next decade, further clarified its development direction, and determined the date for the next board meeting.

It is reported that it has been 10 years since the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation, jointly established by FNU and Angeles University Foundation of the Philippines, was founded in 2010. It has been in good operation and has received strong support from all parties. With a series of gratifying achievements, and hailed as a “walking Confucius Institute”, it is playing an increasingly important role in promoting mutual understanding between the two peoples of China and the Philippines.
